What does a CD Reef do? Well it's a reef tank where you can keep all your large-scale fish and corals. And to make things even better, the CD Reef is one of the best selling aquariums ever made. This project will show you how to assemble and maintain your own personal aquarium! Although bubbles seem like such a simple thing that we don't really need to know anything about them or study them, they're actually quite complex. So today we're going to talk about bubbles and what makes them tick: buoyancy, viscosity, density, surface tension and capillary forces. These are the four main properties that allow air and water particles to form our beloved bubbles. When you drop something (either a glass of water or a ball), what happens? If you drop a ball without any air inside it, the tiny little object will just fall straight down as if there was nothing there at all. But what happens when you drop an egg from a high place? If the egg is made out of rubber, it will bounce! Instead of falling straight down as if nothing is there, the egg will bounce up and down as it falls because it has no air trapped inside. The more eggs that are floating around at once, the more they bounce. And if you have enough eggs around them then one by one they'll all bounce up into the air and then back down again. If you were to put eggs inside a tank of water, they would turn into bubbles. If you let them sit in the tank for awhile they would form tiny air bubbles - and these small bubbles would be attached to each other with a little adhesive and gravity. So the more eggs you put together in one place, the more air bubbles will form. What happens when we pour water through a pipe? We get water bursting out at all different angles and these air bubbles travel along with the water. So as you can see, bubbles are somewhat complicated little creatures. But the main thing we need to know is that they float! The first thing you need to decide about your new aquarium is what kind of a tank shape it should be. There are a lot of different opinions out there on this subject. The most popular choices are 'tanks shaped like cubes' and 'tanks shaped like cylinders'. To help me decide I talked with a bunch of my friends and asked them what they thought. Here's what they said: Some people think that tanks shaped like cubes look more professional and attractive than tanks shaped like cylinders. They also think that the 'square' shape of a cube makes it easier to set up and maintain than a 'round' shaped cylinder. People who prefer cubes also claim that the design of the cube helps hide ugly things like cords and filters. Other people think that tanks shaped like cylinders look better than cubes because cylindrical aquariums are more natural-looking than cubical ones. They also think cylindrical aquariums are more versatile than cubical ones because you can place them against walls without having to worry about how they'll look or whether or not they'll fit. Another group of people strongly believes that tanks should be round. cfa1e77820
