The movie "Hot Shot Basket" is a fun family film that tells a story about a team that has been losing for decades to their rivals, but then they recruit a new player, and it turns the tables. Hot Shot Basket is a 2005 Philippine film directed by Rey Malonzo and produced by Star Cinema. It stars Jericho Rosales, Dingdong Dantes, Angel Locsin, Carmina Villaroel and Kris Aquino. The main character in the film, named Donny (Jericho Rosales) was left by his parents at a young age to grow up in an orphanage. He is adopted by the McCoys, a family of five brothers. While at the orphanage, he meets Chuck who found him by coincidence after coming back from abroad with his girlfriend Rose (Angel Locsin). Chuck volunteers to tutor Donny in basketball. While studying under Chuck, Donny learns that he also has good talent for playing basketball. Donny and Chuck then start training together to improve their basketball skills. Their remarkable improvement in basketball skills due to their hard work and determination surprises the players of the rival team, "The Barangay Boys". The two teams, "Bubble Gang" and "The Barangay Boys" compete in various games such as a shooting try-outs and the annual boys' basketball tournament held in the city. Donny and Chuck excel under Coach Roy (Dingdong Dantes). Donny and Chuck's phenomenal improvement in basketball plays a pivotal role in their victory over "The Barangay Boys". Donny and Rose's love story is also shown during this time. Rose's mother, Mrs. McCoy (Dolly Fuentebella) also wants her daughter Rose to date Donny despite their age difference. When the boys are preparing for their annual basketball tournament, Donny and Chuck notice that Coach Roy is not feeling well. Donny then decides that they should have a training session in the evening when Coach Roy is not around because he doesn't want anything to happen to him. When Coach Roy comes back late at night and finds them practicing, he becomes suspicious of what was happening outside his house and then follows them out of his house.
